The Children To School Project Ghana, CTSP, is initiative by ITFC, Integrated Tamale Fruit Company, as part of its social responsibilities to improve the quality of primary education in marginalized community schools in its operational area. A partnership was formed in conjunction with Solidaridad, MONDIAAL PLATFORM VENLO (MPV), a foundation, in the Netherlands, that supports development projects by providing funds for educational activities and the support of Mr. Paul Smeets, also from the Netherlands.
This partnership started in March 2004, and has seen tremendous improvement in teaching and learning in its four pilot community schools namely Gushie, Tigla/Sogu Tampia, Dipale and Tunayilli primary schools in the Savelugu/Nanton district in the Northern Region of Ghana
Under this educational development program, Children To School Project is providing food and basic health care programs, supply of teaching and learning materials, building of teacher accommodations, physical education equipment, recruitment of volunteer teachers and payment of an attendance incentive to teachers on behalf of the Parent Teachers Associations. As sustainability program, CTSP in collaboration with ITFC and the various Parent Teacher Associations and school management committees is cultivating mango orchards for schools. The Children to school project enjoys the support of the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders with interests in primary education
